IMPORTANT ANNOUNCEMENT

To WHOM IT MAY CONCERN:

We have the pleasure to announce that the ECCM-11 (European Conference on Composite Materials), which will be held in Rhodes, Greece from 31 May to 3 of June 2004, has been approved as a Marie-Curie Large Conference. This means that the Marie-Curie scheme will provide 40 training scholarships for participation at ECCM-11. These grants will be split into 30 placements for early stage researcher and 10 placements for experienced researchers. An Early stage researcher should have at the time of his/her attendance, no more than four years (full time equivalent) research experience since obtaining the first diploma and does not have a doctoral degree. An experienced researcher should have at the time of his/her attendance, a doctoral degree or a (full time equivalent) research experience of 4-10 years since obtaining the first diploma.

Marie Curie will be covering all expenses (ECCM-11 fees and full subsistence/ accommodation) for all forty participants. Finally all Marie Curie participants will be funded with the amount of up to 150 Euro for early researchers and 267 Euro for experienced researchers towards their travel expenses. These can be claimed upon presentation of a valid ticket and associated proof of payment.

The successful applicants are required (1) to attend all four plenary papers and (2) to participate in two training sessions chaired by well known composites scientists. In particular, the Special Training Event-1 is entitled "Business and Management Opportunities in the Field of Composites". The Special Training Event-2 is entitled "Modelling the Physico-mechanical Behaviour of Composites".

Please note that the Marie-Curie scheme aims primarily to provide training to European Researchers. Hence, any interested "early" or "experienced" researcher is welcome to apply regardless of his/her prior involvement with the conference.
