Novell Stresses Data Access -- New unit to focus on network info resources

by Caryn Gillooly

Novell Inc. on Nov. 1 announced the formation of the Information Access and
Management Group (IAMG) to develop network software products that can provide
easy access to network-based information resources.

IAMG will consist of five divisions: advanced access applications,
management products, network infrastructure, host connectivity, and telephony
services.

Some of the products that will come out of these divisions will be the
Mobile NetWare Client, Novell Distributed Management Services (NDMS), and
NetWare Connect.

IAMG will be headed by Steve Markman, executive VP and general manager.
IAMG is Novell's fourth such group, the others being NetWare Systems, Unix
Systems, and Novell Applications (WordPerfect).

Meanwhile, the Provo, Utah, software developer is expected to deliver its
much-anticipated NetWare 4.1 enterprise network operating system on Dec. 15.
Novell soon will be shipping final test copies to resellers.
