"For corded mice the situation is somewhat different. When you switch off
the computer, this does not always include the connection area. This means
that power is still being supplied to the mouse via the PS/2 connector and
the mouse therefore flashes. Only by switching off the computer completely
(i.e. unplugging it) can you ensure that peripheral devices connected to it
are not supplied with continuous current."
