No to Intel nam zrobil niespodziewanke i wypuscil Pentium MMX 233MHz.
Uklad wykorzystuje 3.5x zwielokrotnienie, ktore pojawilo sie w iPMMX.
Nalezalo siem w sumie tego spodziewac, aczkolwiek wczesniejsze
doniesienia Intela zaprzeczaly jakoby mial w planach taki procesor...

INTEL INTRODUCES 11th MICROPROCESSOR
WITH MMX=D4 TECHNOLOGY=20

233 MHz Desktop Pentium=AE Processor with MMX=D4 Technology Adds to =
Choices

SANTA CLARA, CALIF. - June. 2, 1997 -- Intel Corporation today =
introduced a 233 MHz Pentium =D2 processor with MMXTM technology, a new =
high performance processor for mainstream consumer PCs that run =
applications designed for Intel's MMX media enhancement technology. =
This is Intel's eleventh microprocessor with MMX technology to be =
introduced this year, underscoring the rapid transition the company is =
making to incorporate the new technology in its product lines.=20
Processors are available immediately, and many PC manufacturers are =
introducing systems today, some bundled with a variety of software =
designed using Intel's MMX technology. Software using MMX technology =
delivers such features as life-like color, full-screen video and =
graphics, real-time animation and manipulation of images, 3D audio and =
dynamic lighting.
"Consumers now have a family of choices among mainstream desktop =
systems, and a wider array of software titles using Intel's MMX =
technology," said Mike Aymar, vice president, Desktop Products Group. =
"Since its introduction in January, the Pentium processor with MMX =
technology has gained significant momentum in the retail segment and =
we've

seen great acceptance of systems and software among consumers."
Pentium processors with MMX technology for mainstream consumer PCs are =
offered at 233, 200 and 166 MHz today. The three speeds are also =
offered as individually boxed products for systems integrators and =
value-added resellers through authorized Intel distributors. Other =
Intel processors using MMX technology available today include the =
highest performing Pentium =AE II processors at 300, 266 and 233 MHz, =
two choices of Pentium=AE OverDrive=AE processors with MMX technology =
that may be used with three speeds of upgradable Pentium processor-based =
systems, and 166, 150 and 133 MHz processors for notebook systems.
New hardware and software logos introduced in advertising, marketing and =
promotional campaigns earlier this year have helped consumers match the =
software to the hardware so that they may enjoy the best PC experience. =
Systems based on the Pentium processor with MMX technology are =
identified with the addition of a triangular "hat" in the upper left =
corner of the well-known "Intel Inside=AE Pentium processor" swirl and =
lettering. The hardware logo is licensed to OEMs under the Intel Inside =
program. The rainbow-colored "hat" with the "MMX" lettering symbolizes =
the enhanced capabilities of both the computer and the software.=20

Technical Details=20
The family of Pentium processors with MMX technology is built on Intel's =
enhanced 0.35 micron CMOS process technology which allows them to =
deliver high performance with low power consumption. Packed with 4.5 =
million transistors, the Pentium processor with MMX technology includes =
a doubled onchip cache size to 32KB and more efficient branch =
prediction. The processor's input and output pins operate at 3.3 volts =
for compatibility with today's components while its inner core operates =
at 2.8 volts. The lower core voltage enables systems to operate within =
efficient thermal ranges. Maximum power dissipation is 17 watts.
The Pentium processor with MMX technology delivers excellent overall =
balanced performance for consumer PCs. Balanced performance includes =
integer, floating point and multimedia measures. SPEC CPU95 performance =
for the 233 MHz processor is 7.12=20
SPECint95 and 5.21 SPECfp95. It has an iCOMP=AE Index 2.0 rating of =
203.

Based on industry-standard benchmarks like CPUmark32* and =
SYSmark32*/Win95, users will see more than 20 percent performance boost =
on today's applications when compared to a Pentium processor running at =
200 MHz. With the addition of MMX technology-enabled software, users =
will experience even more performance and quality improvements, =
depending on the type of application and the extent to which the =
software developer incorporates the new instructions. On Intel's Media =
Benchmark the Pentium processor with MMX technology delivers more than =
60 percent performance improvement when compared with an equivalent =
speed Pentium processor. This benchmark, which measures performance on =
media-rich applications, consists of audio, video, imaging and 3D =
geometry components.
Boxed processors for desktop systems are packaged with a fan heatsink, =
CD sampler with software developed for MMX technology, installation =
manual, certificate of authenticity, and an Intel Inside=AE program =
label.

Pricing
In 1,000-unit quantities, the 233-MHz Pentium processor with MMX =
technology in ceramic or plastic pin grid array (PPGA) packages is =
priced at $594. Pricing and availability of boxed processors may be =
obtained from authorized Intel distributors.=09
Intel, the world's largest chip maker, is also a leading manufacturer =
of personal computer, networking, and communications products. =
Comprehensive information about the new Pentium processor with MMX =
technology is also available at Intel's site on the World Wide Web at =
URL http://mmx.com with press information at www.intel.com/pressroom.

trademarks, and MMX is a trademark of Intel Corporation. Other names =
and brands are the property of their respective owners.
