I once had similar problems to yours and it was suggested to me that the
problem *could* be caused by one of your simms having gold contacts and
the other having tin contacts. As it turned out, the dummies who sold
me my motherboard just didn't read the manual right (I needed two simms
of the same size), so the thing about the contacts wasn't the problem
for me, but maybe you could check into that and see if that's the
problem.
