Wallace Galleries, 521 West 23 Street, 2nd Floor, NY, NY 10011
Entrance donation - $20. Complimentary hors d oeuvres and cash bar.
Laxma Goud, born in 1940, is one of the most
respected artists in
India. His paintings, etchings and drawings express the intense soul
of Andhra Pradesh, the state in
the heart of India where he
lives. Besides being a prolific artist, Goud is
an Art Professor in
Hyderabad and is very active in a co-operative for rural women and
children. Although much of his
work is brightly hued, Goud is
ultimately renowned for his incredible control of line guided by a
sure hand and a
profound inner eye. Goud s etched figures are
endowed with a true erotic impulse, and yet are
tender in the most
human sense.
