We invite applications for a postdoctoral position (initial appointment
for one year with possibility for extension) in the Department of
Computing Science at University of Alberta, to work in projects in the
area of System Software and Programming Languages. The goal of our
current projects include: the development an MPI-based generative
design pattern system; improvements to compilation techniques for
parallel programming languages (we are focusing in Unified Parallel C
at the moment); better code generation techniques for standard compiler
infrastructures.

The ideal candidate will have extensive experience with parallel
programming or code generation (or both); would have published results
in one of these areas, and would be very proficient in software
system's tools and environments; would have excellent programming
skills; and should be excited about research in software systems.

Individuals can only be appointed to a PDF if they have received their
Ph.D. within the previous five years. Applicants should submit a letter
of intent, curriculum vitae, and arrange for three confidential letters
of reference to be sent to: Dr Jose Nelson Amaral, Department of
Computing Science, 2-21 Athabasca Hall, University of Alberta,
Edmonton, Alberta, Canada T6G 2E8
Email: amaral@cs.ualberta.ca
Position will remain open until filled.
