Subject: Metallographic Call for Papers
31st Annual International Metallographic Society Convention
Analysis of In-Service Failures and Advances in Microstructural
Characterization
26 - 29 July 1998 Ottawa, Canada
The 31st IMS Annual Convention will continue its rich tradition of
bringing together metallographers, engineers, materials scientists
and quality control personnel to share the latest developments in
metallographic, fractographic and micrographic analysis. The event
typically covers four days and includes short courses, lectures,
workshops, an exhibit, the International Metallographic Contest and
the Annual Technical Meeting. The 1998 event will cover a wide
spectrum of industrial problems including failures in power
generation, processing plants, transportation, aerospace, and
electronic components. The technical program will be pertinent to
metallurgists, engineers, and anyone in the fields of metallurgy,
failure analysis, microstructural analysis and quality control,
among others.
Papers for the 31st Annual IMS Convention are being solicited in,
but not limited to the following topics:
o Analysis of In-Service Failures
o Advances in Microstructural Characterization
o Advances in Characterization Techniques; including:
- high resolution microscopy
- quantitative metallography and fractography
- image analysis
Abstract Deadline is 1 November 1997
