Let me guess, you have a SuperMicro P6 or PII motherboard with an AMI
bios? I went through this with my SM P6DNF motherboard with an
AHA2940UW
SCSI controller, a while back and finally gave up and used Powerboot
instead of Boot Manager. As I recall, BM relies on the bios to tell it
that there are no more bootable devices, and this use to work fine
until I
flash upgraded my AMI bios for another problem. The newer AMI bios
nolonger tells BM that there are no more bootable devices so BM just
times
out with that error. Trevor Hemsley had a patch for BM which he said
fixed the problem for him, but I could never get it to work right.
Power
Boot works differently and doesn't have the problem. It's shareware
though - http://www.blueskyinnovations.com/pboot.html SuperMicro never
responded to any of my emails. So since I don't like to sit there
hitting
enter, I use power boot on that machine.
