I think there are few more confusing technologies then PC100 SDRAM
on the market. Main thing to keep inmind when shopping for PC100
SDRAM is that many vendors are either purposely or because of poor
knowledge are selling none PC100 SDRAM as PC100, making false claims
about speed rating etc. Here some guide lines to keep you from
getting screwed
[0] To get some Basic info on PC100 SDRAM go to our PC100 SDRAM FAQ.
[1] Stay away from vendors that claim to have 6ns SDRAM it is not
in mass production yet.
[2] There is only one 7ns capable SDRAM chip on the marcket (Samsung
Semicon with part number ending on G7 )
[3] There is a difference between SDRAM capable of runing at 100 Mhz
and PC100 compliant SDRAM, because PC100 specificationscover a lot
of different aspects of SDRAM chips not justsupported frequency).
[4] Make sure that if your vendor says that they are sellingPC100
CAS 2 SDRAM they mean PC100 SDRAMthat supports CAS 2 setting
at 100Mhz
[5] Ask vendor for chip number and use tables below to find exect
specs.
[6] Do not use any general rules to find information on SDRAM, each
Manufacturer has their own system for asigningpart numbers. -7(X)
doesn't mean it's7ns SDRAM.
