Three months ago i bought a Sounblaster AWE64 GOLD.
The card did not work whith my Roland midi keyboard.
The midi-messages were changed at random.
The Creative helpdesk could not help me.
Then i started reading the newsgroups, and discovered more people had the
same problem.
Creative then admitted that there was a problem whith the midi-in port.
There would be a driver-update on their ftp-site in two weeks.
Nothing happened for two months and several telephone calls.
After a sixth call to the helpdesk they said it was a hardware problem.
The midi-circuits on the card should be replaced.
They would send me a new card, and i should call two weeks later.
I had to send a fax to Ireland whith a discription of the problem.
One month later (call nr 9!) they said it was a software problem.
I have to send the card to Ireland (which they will pay, ok), and after
one month i will recieve the card back.
I said that, if it's a software problem, they can send me the software
via e-mail, ftp or diskette!
The answer was that they needed the numbers printed on the circuits. (I
can't read?)
Maybe i bought the card too early, i think it contains bad midi-hardware.
But these cards are still sold!
I think Creative should send me a new card, whith new chips. (I whill
return the old one, of course).
Buyers who start to use a Roland keyboard later, will have a serious
problem.
