Call for Papers

ECAI 2008

Patras, July 21 to 25, 2008

http://www.ece.upatras.gr/ecai2008

The ECAI'08 Program Committee invites submission of papers and posters for
the Technical Program of the 18th biennial European Conference on Artificial
Intelligence.

Original papers are welcome in all areas of AI. Of particular interest are
papers that address real-world problems, bridge the gap between theory and
practice, papers that effectively combine AI with other areas of Computer
Science, or that find fruitful interdisciplinary synergies between AI and
other scientific domains. Contributions extending the state of the art and
the rational foundations for critical issues in Artificial Intelligence are
encouraged, particularly on the list of topics of interest on the web site.

Submissions must not exceed five pages in camera-ready format. Over length
submissions will be rejected without review. Papers should be submitted
using the formatting style on the website. Each accepted paper will be
allocated five pages in the proceedings.

ECAI'08 also accepts posters. Each poster will have two pages allocated in
the proceedings. Posters must follow the same style guidelines as full
papers. Authors may indicate whether they want a submitted full paper to be
considered as well as a submitted poster in case of non-acceptance of the
full paper. Authors sould to submit later on a poster on the same content as
a submitted paper.

All submissions will be subject to academic peer review by the ECAI'08
Program Committee. To allow for anonymous reviewing, the author names in a
submitted paper or poster have to be replaced by the unique tracking number
assigned by the conference system at the submission of a summary form, to be
filled in before February 22nd. Authors should avoid identifying
self-references in their text. Submission of papers that have been presented
earlier in a preliminary form at a national event of an ECCAI member society
is allowed.

Review criteria include the relevance to AI, the significance and scope of
the contribution, its originality, technical soundness, quality of
presentation, and scholarship. Notification of acceptance or rejection of
submitted papers and posters will be mailed to the corresponding author by
April 28 2008. The primary authors of ECAI-08 submitted paper will be
offered the opportunity to react to the reviews for their papers and give
short comments before the final decision is made. The author feedback phase
will last 2 days; it will take place on April 21 and 22, 2008.

The proceedings of the ECAI conference, together with those of its
associated symposia, PAIS and STAIRS (see their specific call for paper),
will be published and distributed by IOS Press as a book and as a CD-ROM.
The authors will be responsible for producing camera-ready copies of papers,
conforming to the ECAI 2008 formatting guidelines for inclusion in the
proceedings. The deadline for receipt of the camera-ready copy is May 26,
2008. At least one author of each accepted paper or poster is required to
attend the conference to present the contribution.
