Special Report - March 20, 1998

Boca Soft, makers of WIPEOUT, a 32 bit screen saver featuring numerous
animated displays
integrated with digital audio, password protection, screen capture and
randomizer have
released their product to the public domain. This OS/2 screen saver program
will also display
the familiar After Dark modules (the flying toasters is one example). It is
now free to every
OS/2 user who wants to download and install it on their system. You will need
about 3 megs of
hard disk space. Instructions for installing the screen saver are as follows:

Step 1: Download WIPEOUT

Download the newly released zipped version from Hobbes into a temporary
directory.
http://hobbes.NMSU.Edu/pub/os2/apps/scrnsave/wipeoutss.zip

Step 2: Unzip & Prepare Install Disks

Unzip the zip file. It will create two subdirectories: Disk1 and Disk2.
Place a blank 1.44 floppy in your "A" Drive.
>From an OS/2 prompt for the "A" Drive type 'Label' and label the disk:
WIPEOUT20 1. NOTE: Make
sure you place a 'space' between the numbers 20 and 1, i.e., 20-space-1.
Copy all the files in the Disk 1 directory to the WIPEOUT20 1 disk.
Put a second blank floppy in and relabel it: WIPEOUT20 2 (don't forget the
space).
Copy all the files in the Disk 2 directory to the WIPEOUT20 2 disk

Step 3: Install WIPEOUT

Insert the WIPEOUT20 1 disk in the "A" drive and type 'Install'
Follow the prompts to complete the install process. (It will stop and tell
you to insert the
WIPEOUT20 2 disk). Once installed reboot your system.
After rebooting, click on the desktop WIPEOUT icon and select (configure)
your new WIPEOUT
screensaver. Select one of several designs or patterns, use a password (or
not, it isn't
required for the screen saver to run). Set up a hot key to hit to start your
WIPEOUT screen
saver (try Control B).
Close up the properties menu and hit your hot key combination to start your
new WIPEOUT screen
saver!
